TITLE: RAPS Afterschool Program Administrator
REPORTS TO: PreK Program Administrator and Building Principal
JOB FUNCTION: The Caregiver will work to support the teacher in the preschool classroom.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: The District has approximately 800 students and is located in north central Michigan. Currently, 17% of our students qualify for special education services and about 2/3 of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Roscommon Elementary School serves early childhood preschool students aged 3 -5 years old and students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Roscommon Middle School has students in grades 5 through 7. Roscommon High School has students in 8th through 12th grades.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Administrator agrees to work on the following priorities:
Program Administrator Specific Duties
- Provide children and staff with appropriate leadership during program hours
- Manage the classroom to assure a safe, healthy and positive atmosphere for children;
- Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for children
- Maintain open communication with parents and Caregiver
- Prepare crafts and activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children
- Physically interact with children outdoors and indoors in a safe and appropriate manner;
- Complete and submit program paperwork accurately and promptly as assigned;
- Keep the room neat and orderly
- Follow and enforce all safety policies
- SUPERVISE CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES ensuring no child is left unattended.
Record-Keeping
- Create forms for and assist in documenting attendance, billing,health notes, parent notes, communication with parents and phone messages as needed
- Act as a program/child advocate by maintaining a positive image of RAPS Afterschool Care at all times and places;
- Monitor Caregiver and provide annual evaluation
- Maintain all child enrollment documents and ensure all are up to date
Other
- Attend all staff meetings/training's, orientation, and other required training;
- Pursue goals through an individually designed professional development plan;
- Maintain confidentiality and Code of Conduct at all times;
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must complete the following upon hire:
- Background Check with fingerprinting
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Health & Safety Training through MiRegistry
- Create and maintain a MiRegistry Account
- Complete 16 hours of training each year pertaining to afterschool care through MiRegistry
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Option A:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 semester hours or 3 CEU's in childcare administration within 6 months of hire
- 6 semester hours, 9 CEU's or combination equal to 90 clock hours in one of the following: childcare administration, early childhood education, child development, youth development, a child-related field
- Minimum experience of 1 year
Option B:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 semester hours or 3 CEU's in childcare administration within 6 months of hire
- 1 of the following: Valid Child Development Associate Credential, Montessori Credential, Michigan Youth Development Associate Certificate or Credential, Associate Degree in any field of study
- Minimum experience of 6 months
Option C:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 semester hours or 3 CEU's in childcare administration within 6 months of hire
- Associate Degree in any field of study AND: 3 hours of MiRegistry Approved Training in each of the following: Program Management, Observation, Documentation and Assessment, Teaching and Learning AND: 6 hours of MiRegistry Approved Training in any of the following: Interactions and Guidance, Challenging Behaviors, Trauma Informed Practices
- No minimum experience required
