Position Summary
The Technical Trainer / Field Training Specialist is a customer-facing role responsible for delivering structured, hands-on equipment training to operators, technicians, and field personnel across customer sites, dealer locations, and commissioning events. This position directly supports safe equipment operation, reduced misuse-related service events, and long-term customer competency. Up to 75% domestic and international travel is required.
Essential Job Duties
Customer & Operator Training
- Deliver onsite and field training on equipment operation, safety protocols, and maintenance best practices.
- Conduct hands-on technical instruction for operators, technicians, and dealer personnel.
- Support equipment commissioning, startup activities, and operational readiness evaluations.
- Reinforce standardized operating procedures to ensure safe, consistent, and efficient equipment use.
Training Development & Improvement
- Identify operator knowledge gaps through field observation and post-training assessments.
- Communicate recurring training deficiencies and failure patterns to leadership with actionable recommendations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of training materials, instructional content, and delivery methods.
- Maintain accurate training documentation, attendance records, and customer feedback reports.
Field Representation & Customer Success
- Actively reduce misuse-related service events through proactive training delivery and operational guidance.
- Represent Air Burners professionally across all customer and dealer touchpoints.
- Build strong customer relationships that reinforce brand reputation and drive long-term loyalty.
- Support the full customer lifecycle from initial commissioning through ongoing operator development.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required. Technical certification or associate degree in a related field strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience operating, servicing, or training on industrial or heavy equipment.
- Background in air curtain burners, forestry, land management, or disaster recovery equipment is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills in field environments.
- Excellent verbal communication and instructional delivery across varying technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to dynamic field conditions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with LMS platforms or digital training tools preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Work Environment
This role operates primarily in the field. Expect frequent travel to customer sites, dealer locations, and field commissioning events across industrial, outdoor, and manufacturing environments. Conditions include exposure to heavy equipment, elevated noise, dust, heat, and variable weather. Appropriate PPE is required and provided. Extended and multi-day domestic and international travel is a regular part of this position, not an exception. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely climb on equipment or ladders as needed.
