General Position Summary:
The Afterschool Care Teacher must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The After-school teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults to meet the needs of the children and resolve parental concerns.'
Principal Accountabilities:

Coordinate and implement an educational after-school age program by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices.

Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, physical, cognitive, and emotional growth.

Assist and facilitate the successful completion of a child’s homework.

Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, daily notes, and parent-teacher conferences

Ensure a healthy classroom environment-including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safely and security of children.

Ensure all program policies and state regulations are met.

Maintain accurate forms.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

This position works in a typical classroom environment.

Ability to accept work interruptions while still remaining focused on duties.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
Education and Experience Preferred:
-
Minimum of 2 years of professional education experience

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in child development
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
