Position Summary:
The Terminal Manager directs and coordinates activities of the Office, Dispatch, Warehouse and Facility operations at assigned terminal to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assists with planning, developing, and implementing organizational policies and goals.
- Oversees operation of the Office and Dispatching in assigned terminal.
- Analyzes division or department budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made and allocates operating budget.
- Understands and reviews Profit Loss (P&L) statements.
- Confers with administrative personnel and review activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations as required.
- Oversees all operations and maintains compliance for all activities at the assigned terminal.
- Interfaces with the federal, state, and local agencies in a professional manner.
Other Functions:
- Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Communicates effectively (verbal or written) with all levels of the organization, governmental officials and outside agencies.
- Participates in continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 – 10 years of related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
- Knowledge of principles and facts related to business administration and accounting, human and material resource management in organizations, sales and marketing, economics, and office information and organizing systems.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Developed capacities used to work with people to achieve goals.
- Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
- The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
- Abilities that influence the acquisition and application of knowledge in problem solving.
- Ability to effectively manage and lead teams in both union and non-union environments while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable labor agreements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous management work experience preferred.
- 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, planning, team building, budget analysis, route efficiency and development, and service analysis.
- Experience working in both union and non-union environments
