Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to promote independence and comfort.
- Support behavioral health needs through behavior management techniques tailored to individual preferences and goals.
- Implement communication strategies using skills such as American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods to enhance understanding and interaction.
- Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and health status to inform care plans and ensure consistent support.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with safety standards.
- Drive clients safely to appointments, community activities, or outings, ensuring their safety and engagement in social opportunities.
- Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans that meet each individual’s unique needs.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health strategies is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving in a home or community setting.
- Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress or behavior tracking.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for transportation responsibilities.
- Experience with medication administration or healthcare support is a plus but not required; training will be provided if necessary.
