Summary
The Automotive Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting dealership-specific financial processes such as vehicle sales reconciliation, inventory tracking, and financing documentation.
Essential Duties
Core Accounting Duties:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Post and reconcile vehicle sales transactions
- Review and process deal jackets for completeness and accuracy
- Track and reconcile vehicle inventory (new and used)
- Manage GAP and Extended warranty cancellations
- Record manufacturer incentives, rebates, and holdbacks
- Coordinate with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) team on loan and lease documentation
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, DMV/title, and registration requirements
- Other accounting tasks as needed
(Other duties may be assigned, added, modified, or removed at any time based on dealership needs.)
Dealership-Specific Responsibilities:
- Post and reconcile vehicle sales transactions
- Review and process deal jackets for completeness and accuracy
- Track and reconcile vehicle inventory (new and used)
- Manage floor plan financing and related schedules
- Record manufacturer incentives, rebates, and holdbacks
- Coordinate with the Finance & Insurance (F&I) team on loan and lease documentation
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, DMV/title, and registration requirements
- Calculate and track sales commissions
Qualifications
Required:
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- Experience in an automotive dealership setting
- Familiarity with dealership management systems (e.g., Dealertrack)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Administrative & Operational Duties
- Maintains a detailed and organized workspace
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local automotive sales laws.
- Establishes and works toward personal and team performance goals.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Pay: $28.00 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Automotive Business Office: 2 years (Preferred)
