The Shot Spot provides full-service care including urgent care and sick patient workups, as well as a wide range of surgical procedures ranging from general surgery to orthopedic procedures. We offer advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound, digital radiography, therapeutic cold-laser therapy, fully-integrated lab with state of the art blood analyzers, urine and fecal analyzers. We also offer vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventative medicine, and much more at various times and locations throughout North Texas.

Overview
Our Veterinary Technician is the primary client-facing role as they are interacting with and educating clients from start to finish during an appointment. Your role is to ensure the client has a seamless, positive experience in the hospital, in addition to providing technical assistance. You may have simple tasks such as answering phones and cleaning the hospital, or as complex as providing technical preparation for and assisting with surgery.
Regardless of skill level, the Veterinary Technician is friendly and flexible when facing varying expectations from clients, co-workers, and veterinarians. Technicians must quickly prioritize, change focus, and respond calmly to emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Client Education and Quality Patient Care
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including but not limited too animal restraint, catheterization, and administering medications.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in patient diagnosis.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical preparations and procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Handle animals of various species with confidence, including dogs and cats ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Operate radiography equipment (X-ray) accurately to obtain diagnostic images for veterinary assessment.
- Manage animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal physiology and behavior.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized clinic environment that adheres to safety standards and infection control protocols.
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of Veterinary Technician Experience Required

- Experience in veterinary critical care or emergency settings will be considered an asset

Physical/Emotional Considerations
Physical contact with and treatment of small animals may require extended periods of sitting, bending, standing, using hands/arms, looking down, and focus. Must be able to type electronic medical records. May be required to lift 40 lbs. and more with assistance. Required to learn and retain medical terms and procedures as well as learn quickly. Technicians may be exposed to unpleasant odors, loud noises, bright lights, animal waste and contagious diseases. Bites, scratches, and fractious animals are also possible in veterinary medicine, so technicians must be able to effectively restrain animals, as well as work to read behavior, to ensure a safe environment.
Compassion fatigue and work stress is possible in veterinary medicine, so we encourage open communication among staff members, and professional assistance if necessary, to guide staff through crisis and/or to maintain emotional wellbeing.

Pay will be based on experience level
Pay: $17.50 - $28.00 per hour
