Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee adaptive reuse and multifamily renovation projects throughout the Chicago area. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through final closeout, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading multifamily renovations, commercial rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, or historic restoration projects and possesses strong knowledge of Chicago building codes, permitting requirements, and subcontractor coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all on-site construction activities from project startup through completion.
- Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, including sequencing trades and monitoring progress.
- Coordinate inspections, permits, and ensure compliance with Chicago building codes and OSHA safety regulations.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure quality execution.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to resolve field issues, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Conduct daily site inspections, safety meetings, and progress reporting.
- Monitor quality control throughout all phases of construction.
- Manage punch list completion and project closeout activities.
- Maintain strong communication with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of Superintendent experience in commercial or multifamily construction.
- Strong background in adaptive reuse, multifamily renovations, commercial renovations, rehabilitation, or historic restoration projects.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on active construction sites.
- Thorough knowledge of construction scheduling, sequencing, and field operations.
- Familiarity with Chicago permitting processes and local building codes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience with historic preservation or landmark building renovations.
- LEED accreditation or familiarity with sustainable construction practices.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
