Job Title: Dr./Providers nurse
Department: Nursing
Supervised By: Nurse Supervisor
Job Summary: In accordance with the mission of Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma Clinic, the Float/Staff Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor, assists all clinic physicians and nurses in the nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational and departmental procedures.
Position Purpose:
- To assist in the delivery of Nursing care for the patients of the Oklahoma Allergy & Asthma Clinic
- Maintain an effective, collaborative partnership with all Nursing staff.
- Assist with business office protocols for checking-in patients as needed
- Record patient’s vital signs, review medications and allergies in patient chart and inform physician/provider when patient is ready to be seen
- Become knowledgeable of all physician routines in clinic
- Work at satellite locations orientating yourself to each satellite operation
- Perform all nurse procedures, pulmonary function testing, allergy skin testing, and challenges using correct procedures and protocols
- Ensure patient rooms de-cluttered and disinfected daily and documented on appropriate worksheets in accordance with OSHA guidelines
- Prepare Sharps Containers for safe disposal as necessary
- Restock rooms as needed
- Assist with training of new Nursing department staff
- Recognize signs and symptoms of possible patient anaphylactic reactions and report immediately to nurse and/or physician
- Update OSHA training on an annual basis
- Update CPR training on a biannual basis
- Assist in shot clinics as available
- Ensure all medications are administered correctly, using the 5 Rights of Medication Administration, and monitor the patient’s response to medication. Notify Physician and other nursing staff if a patient experiences any unexpected response to medication and document follow-up care as required
- Demonstrate a positive customer service attitude/behavior
- Establish, maintain and improve strong positive relationships with the medical staff, the public, other Oklahoma Allergy and Asthma clinic departments and associates
- Attend workshops, seminars necessary for educational growth
- Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing
- Completes all other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
Licenses or Certifications:
- Current licensure or certification with the state.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR programs for Healthcare Providers
- If operating motor vehicles for business purposes, then must have valid Driver’s license.
Education and Experience:
- Certification of graduation from an accredited Nursing program.
- Prefer at least one year experience in a Clinic or Hospital setting.
- Excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, basic math skills; nursing skills per competency checklist.
- OSHA, HIPPA and Medicare training required.
- Previous Allergy/Asthma clinic experience is desirable.
Skills and Abilities:
Problem-solving skills: The ability to work in conjunction with all departments of the Oklahoma Allergy & Asthma Clinic, to ensure quality patient care and safety. The Ability to recognize emergent needs of patients’, take appropriate action including notification of the Nurse, and/or Physician/Provider. The ability to maintain flexibility with frequent changes in patient schedules.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to be professional, pleasant, and maintain good working relationships within assigned work spaces and all other departments in the Clinic.
Written skills: To demonstrate ability to use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation in all documentation.
Oral Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and Physicians/Providers.
Technical skills: The ability to use standard office equipment required to perform daily job duties.
Other skills: Practice excellent patient care and teamwork skills with a positive attitude creating an environment conducive to positive patient outcomes.
Confidentiality: The ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPPA standards to ensure the security and privacy of Protected Health Information.

Exposure to for following potential hazards: Possible exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Possible exposure to toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparation, needles, cuts, back injury, body fluid, blood, punctures, scratches and other conditions common to the clinical environment. Possible verbal or physical abuse. Possible exposure to hazardous materials. Possible physical strain due to moving equipment and supplies. Possible road and weather hazards when driving. Policies are in place for Universal Precautions identifying exposure risks and appropriate barrier protection.
