Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including sterile IV admixtures and compounded medications.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and proper storage to ensure availability and safety.
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations with precision for dosage accuracy and compounding procedures.
- Utilize pharmacy software systems for data entry, prescription processing, and maintaining detailed patient records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Assist in medication administration processes and provide patient service by answering questions and offering guidance on medication use.
- Maintain strict adherence to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, including state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and medical terminology standards.
- Follow aseptic techniques and sterile IV infusion procedures to ensure safe preparation of medications in hospital or clinical settings.
- Support the pharmacy team with inventory audits, documentation of compounding activities, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace aligned with pharmaceutical regulatory standards.
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital, or community pharmacy environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated critical care experience or acute care background enhances your ability to handle complex medication regimens.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, including drug regulation laws and state healthcare regulations, is essential.
- Experience with pharmacy software systems for prescription processing and data management is required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and aseptic techniques is necessary for success in this role.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred to support patient safety initiatives.
- Proven ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and efficiently while maintaining patient confidentiality is vital for this position.
