Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality animal care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Duties
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
- Administer medications and vaccinations following veterinary instructions and aseptic techniques
- Support veterinary technicians with laboratory procedures, sample collection, and processing
- Maintain accurate animal records, including medical histories, treatments, and medications administered
- Handle pet care duties such as feeding, bathing, grooming, and cleaning kennels to ensure animals are comfortable and well-cared for
- Assist with front desk responsibilities including client check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and answering client inquiries
- Perform animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal behavior for signs of illness or distress
- Support with specialized procedures such as animal catheterization or handling of equine patients when necessary
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by disinfecting equipment and treatment areas following infection control protocols
- Provide compassionate care to animals of various species, including dogs, cats, and horses
Requirements
- Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred; experience in veterinary clinics is highly desirable
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care practices
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and medication administration
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper dog handling skills and animal restraint methods
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures in a veterinary setting
- Strong communication skills for front desk duties and client interactions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Animal catheterization or equine handling experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided if necessary
- Must demonstrate compassion for animals and excellent attention to detail in record keeping and clinical tasks
- Weekends required

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
