Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using digital imaging technology while ensuring patient safety and comfort
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current oral health status
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term dental health
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, or other preventive measures
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Support infection prevention protocols by adhering to aseptic techniques, sterilizing equipment, and managing infection control procedures in accordance with healthcare standards
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to perform dental hygiene procedures
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with familiarity in pediatric patient care preferred
- Proficiency in dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and appointment scheduling
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health assessments
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations effectively
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection control practices
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR), medical coding, and documentation review is highly desirable
