We are seeking an experienced, high-level 5-Axis CNC Setup Machinist to join our Temecula, CA team.
Position Summary
The 5-Axis CNC Setup Machinist independently performs complex setups and operates multi-axis CNC machining centers to produce close-tolerance aerospace and defense components from aluminum, steel, and exotic alloys. This is a senior, hands-on role that owns the job from setup sheet to first-article inspection, working with minimal supervision to deliver parts that meet customer specifications, drawings, and GD&T requirements.

- Pay Range: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skill

What You Will Do
- Independently set up and operate 5-axis (and 3/4-axis) CNC machining centers using job travelers, setup sheets, and programs.
- Fixture and indicate raw material and fixtures using clamps, vises, and indicators to establish accurate work offsets.
- Prepare and verify cutting tools from the tool list - confirming length, geometry, length offset, diameter, and runout.
- Edit and fine-tune programs at the control to optimize cycle time, tool life, and part quality.
- Measure and verify key features on the first part and maintain dimensional quality throughout the production run.
- Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T to determine machining requirements.
- Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, calipers, and hand inspection tools).
- Collaborate with programmers, engineering, and management to minimize setup time and improve machining processes.
- Maintain equipment through daily preventive maintenance; keep machines, fixtures, and tooling clean, organized, and properly stored.
- Support and uphold AS9100 procedures, quality records, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Document daily activity through production logs and adhere to all safety procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience setting up and running CNC mills, preferably in an aerospace or defense environment.
- Demonstrated 5-axis setup and machining experience (4-axis and horizontal mill experience a plus).
- Proficiency with G-code and M-code, and experience with industry controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mazak, or HAAS.
- Strong blueprint interpretation and GD&T skills.
- Solid shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Thorough understanding of machine setups, tooling, fixturing, and cutters.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet production schedules.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of progressive CNC machining experience, with senior-level 5-axis setup capability.
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 75 lbs.
- Constant holding, grasping, turning, and repetitive hand movements to operate machinery and tooling.
- Occasional reaching overhead, at shoulder level, and below shoulder level.
- Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (corrective lenses permitted).
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing / machine shop environment. Personal protective equipment is required, and all employees are expected to follow ADMI safety procedures at all times.
