Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing / MDS Coordinator to oversee nursing operations within our healthcare facility. This role involves managing resident care plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and coordinating multidisciplinary efforts to deliver exceptional resident-centered care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, extensive nursing experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home health settings, and proficiency with EMR/EHR systems. Duties
- Coordinate and complete the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop, review, and update individualized care plans in accordance with resident needs and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance on documentation review, shift management, and resident care delivery.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of medical records and documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize resident care outcomes, including management of Medicare and Medicaid documentation.
- Oversee the management of medical records using EMR/EHR systems, ensuring accurate data entry and recordkeeping.
- Monitor nursing staff performance, provide supervision, training, and leadership to foster a compliant and efficient work environment.
- Conduct regular audits of medical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Maintain knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support clinical decision-making related to resident care.
- Assist in shift management by coordinating staffing schedules to meet operational needs effectively.
Experience
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health, or hospice care environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in nursing administration with supervising or management responsibilities.
- Extensive knowledge of MDS coordination, care planning, Medicare regulations, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with medical records management.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising nursing teams and managing shift operations.
- Prior experience in documentation review and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards is essential.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to elderly or chronically ill populations is preferred.
- Experience working within acute care settings or home care environments is advantageous.
