We are looking for an Associate Attorney to join a plaintiff-side employment litigation practice in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is suited for a motivated attorney with at least 1 year of experience who is eager to advocate for employees in workplace disputes and build hands-on litigation experience. The position offers meaningful client-facing work across a range of employment-related matters, along with the chance to contribute in both state and federal forums.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a docket of employment litigation matters, guiding each case from initial evaluation through resolution.
- Prepare and refine pleadings, motions, briefs, and other case documents that support effective litigation strategy.
- Perform legal analysis and research to develop clear, persuasive arguments for filings and case positioning.
- Manage discovery activities, including drafting written requests, reviewing responses, and assisting with deposition and witness preparation.
- Attend and advocate in court appearances, case conferences, mediations, and related proceedings in state and federal venues.
- Represent clients in proceedings before administrative bodies handling workplace and employment-related claims.
- Partner with senior lawyers on litigation planning, case development, and trial readiness efforts.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients to explain case progress, expectations, and next steps throughout the legal process.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active law license in good standing with at least one state bar; Pennsylvania admission is preferred.
- At least 1 year of litigation experience, with roughly 1–2 years being especially relevant for this role.
- Exposure to federal court practice is strongly preferred.
- Background in employment law, civil litigation, civil rights, or labor and employment matters is preferred.
- Demonstrated strength in legal writing, motion practice, research, and oral advocacy.
- Ability to manage deadlines, balance multiple active matters, and work with a high level of ownership.
- Experience with depositions is a plus, and prior trial exposure is helpful but not required.
