Position Summary
To clean and sanitize areas of responsibility including furnishings, following established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hospital. Job activities are routine with detailed rules or procedures. Responsibilities are diversified; requiring judgment in applying established practices and procedures. Job activities are also standardized and governed by procedures, instructions and standardized practices.
Responsibilities
Patient rooms: Performs terminal cleaning procedures and prepares room for a new occupant, or concurrent cleaning for long tem patients. Follows isolation procedures for isolation rooms. Floors: Sweep, dry/wet mop, and sanitize/disinfect. Carpet/rugs: Vacuum.
Walls, windows, doors, and ceilings: Spot clean surfaces between washings, wash and sanitize as scheduled. Fixtures, furnishings, and furniture: Dust, damp wipe, spot clean, wash, sanitize/disinfect, and polish. Change drapes, dividers, etc. Clean/sanitize shelves, ledges, vents, woodwork, window frames. Empty, clean, reline wastebaskets and empty and clean ashtrays. Straighten and rearrange furniture as needed. Clean light fixtures as needed.
Stairways, elevators entrances and exits: Spot clean walls daily and wash as scheduled. Scrub floors and sanitize. Horizontal surfaces: Remove dust, dirt, greasy film, wash if necessary and sanitize daily in patient rooms and patient care areas. Bathroom: Clean and disinfect daily all fixtures, floors, mirror, windows, doors; walls as far as can be reached. Clean higher areas as scheduled. Replenish bathroom supplies.
Utility rooms, kitchens, (nursing floors), closets, etc.: Clean floors, ceilings, furnishings, fixtures, etc. Dining Room and Kitchen: Clean as listed above except that which is normally cleaned by dietary personnel. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
High School graduate or the equivalent preferred. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Requires three months or less of work experience.

Full time with benefits - 40 hours per week
2nd shift: 4p-12:30a

The Outer Banks Hospital is a full-service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The 21-bed facility is designed to meet the needs of the coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 350,000 in the summer season.
