Certified Flagger – Staff Zone (Charleston, SC)
Staff Zone, a leading construction staffing agency, is hiring Certified Flaggers for a customer project in Charleston, SC. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow around active construction and work zones.
Position Overview
The Certified Flagger directs vehicles and pedestrians safely around work zones using approved hand signals and stop/slow paddles. Candidates must hold a valid ATSSA Flagger Certification and be prepared to work in fast‑moving, safety‑sensitive environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Flagger Duties — Direct traffic safely around construction and work zones using proper hand signals and stop/slow paddles.
- Maintain safe conditions for workers, drivers, and pedestrians.
- Communicate clearly with drivers and jobsite personnel.
- Follow all state, local, and jobsite safety regulations.
- Support overall Work Zone Safety and report hazards immediately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
Certification Requirements
- Must be ATSSA Flagger Certified and able to provide a valid certificate.
- Certification requires completing a 4–8 hour training course through organizations like ATSSA or local safety councils, followed by passing a written or practical exam.
- Staff Zone will host a certification class at our Charleston branch (1640 Remount Road) within the next 2 weeks.
- Official class date will be provided soon.

Schedule & Compensation
- Night and Day shifts available.
- Full‑time and project‑based opportunities.
- Pay rate based on experience and client requirements.
- Daily or weekly pay through Staff Zone.
Qualifications
- Valid ATSSA Flagger Certification required.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and situational awareness.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety‑focused.
