SunCatcher Therapeutic Riding Academy is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to provide therapeutic horsemanship services, bringing a sense of joy, hope, and belonging to those with disabilities. We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced part-time instructor to lead therapeutic horsemanship and adaptive riding sessions for program participants.
Duties
- Design and implement engaging riding and groundwork sessions for both adults and children that support participants' program goals
- Lead a minimum of three 1.5-hour sessions weekly on a consistent schedule.
- Arrive 30 minutes before the first session of the day and plan to stay ½ hour after the last session.
- Lead volunteers in providing safe, therapeutic sessions that align with PATH Intl. standards.
- Collaborate with volunteers to provide person-centered behavioral support that aligns with therapeutic goals of the organization.
- Report any maintenance, equine welfare, volunteer, participant, or other concerns to Program Director.
- Evaluate participant progress regularly through assessments and observations of sessions, keeping detailed notes and providing report to Program Director.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- CPR & First Aid certified
- Experience with horses required, experience with people with disabilities preferred
- Ideal Instructor has the following characteristics: flexibility, coachability, compassion, grit, problem-solving, the ability to be outside in various weather, can walk/stand for 60+ minutes at a time, able to project voice in an arena, and able to successfully do emergency dismounts.
