Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable General Contractor to complete a residential remodeling project for a homeowner named Robert. In this role, you will be responsible for reconfiguring an unusual three-access closet, currently opening into the living room, kitchen, and bathroom, into two larger, more functional storage spaces: an expanded bathroom closet designed to accommodate a future stackable washer and dryer, and an enlarged kitchen pantry. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of demolition, framing, drywall, painting, and optional electrical work, ensuring quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. This position offers the opportunity to coordinate a full scope of trades on a single, clearly defined project from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Protect adjacent flooring and finishes throughout the work area during demolition
- Remove the two existing non-load-bearing partition walls separating the current closet configuration
- Remove and dispose of the existing bathroom closet door, door jamb, casing, header, and associated framing to create an open access into the future laundry area
- Remove and dispose of all construction debris generated during demolition
- Verify all field measurements prior to construction
- Frame in the existing approximately 4-foot-wide living room closet opening
- Construct a new interior partition wall to divide the remaining space into an enlarged bathroom closet and an enlarged kitchen pantry
- Reframe the former bathroom closet doorway as needed to create a clean, full-height open passage
- Supply and install new 1/2-inch drywall on all newly framed wall surfaces
- Install drywall in areas affected by removal of the bathroom closet header
- Tape, mud, sand, and finish all drywall to a paint-ready surface, matching the existing knockdown wall texture as closely as practical
- Relocate the existing receptacle from inside the closet to the new living room wall for television use (optional electrical scope)
- Install one standard receptacle, one GFCI receptacle, and one 220-volt receptacle for a future stackable washer and dryer, completing all electrical connections and device installations (optional electrical scope)
- Prime all repaired and newly finished drywall surfaces and paint all newly constructed and repaired walls to blend with existing adjacent finishes
- Perform a complete project cleanup and remove all construction-related debris upon completion
Qualifications
- Proven experience in residential framing, drywall installation and finishing, and interior remodeling
- Ability to read and work from field measurements without formal blueprints
- Experience matching existing wall textures, such as knockdown finish, in patch and repair areas
- Licensed electrician or licensed electrical subcontractor relationship for the optional electrical scope, including 220-volt and GFCI receptacle installation
- Ability to coordinate multiple trades, including framing, drywall, painting, and electrical, as a single point of contact
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship, particularly in finish work visible in living room, kitchen, and bathroom spaces
- Valid contractor license and insurance as required by local jurisdiction
- Reliable, punctual, and communicative throughout the project timeline
