We are looking for a Fabricator to perform typical machine shop operations by working with computer-controlled equipment and/or mechanically based machines. This position ensures the machine is working at full capacity and stocked with needed materials alongside a crew of two others.
*Entry level position with training onsite*
Responsibilities
- Forms fabricated parts to conform to job specifications.
- Works as part of a 3 person crew.
- Ability to move/lift product averaging 10-15 pounds, with a maximum of 25 pounds.
- Positions work piece against stops or aligning layout marks with die or blade.
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
- Measuring work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Ability to move within department to complete tasks as assigned.
- Removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece.
- Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and following prescribed safety regulations.
- Acts in compliance with company Health and Safety policies and procedures including any applicable reporting and paperwork required.
Skills
- 3 to 6 months experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, preferred.
- Detail oriented with mechanical aptitude.
- Certified to use a forklift; preferred.
- Experience using manual and power tools including a tape measure, protractor, micrometer, wrenches, etc.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form.
- Exercise good judgment in decision making and prioritizing.
- Adequate written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate information to co-workers and management.
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Handles issues in the best interest of both customer and company.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical degree is a plus
