American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring active MO or compact licensure and at least 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience.

Position is based in a progressive care unit (PCU) with floating responsibilities across all med-surg/intermediate care units, including the ED for inpatient holds
-
Patient ratio is 1:5
-
Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, post-surgical, renal, orthopedic, and respiratory cases
-
Required clinical skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring (unit and remote), and use of rapid response teams
-
Cardiovascular procedures include post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, and pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
-
IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
-
Medication management includes heparin protocols, cardiac drips (with and without titration), PCA, and procedural sedation
-
Neurological care includes CVA management; respiratory care includes chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management

Additional required skills: IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions

Preferred skills include port access and chemotherapy monitoring

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15

8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts

Block scheduling is not available for this position

No on-call requirements

Active MO or compact RN license required; both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or compact equivalent) must be in hand at time of consideration, as floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year

Previous charge RN and teaching hospital experience preferred

Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

2 professional references required: one from a supervisor level or above and one from a charge RN or above, both from within the past year

Charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit

Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned

RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
