American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Oncology RN for a night shift inpatient unit requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and IV therapy skills.

Inpatient Medical Surgical Oncology unit (5N)

Provides care to oncology and general med-surg patient population
-
Typical patient ratio of 1:5-6
-
Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
-
Works weekdays with every other weekend required
-
Follows a blocked schedule
-
Uses Cerner EMR for charting
-
13-week contract with possibility of extension
-
Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)

Current BLS and ACLS certification required through AHA
-
NIHSS certification required
-
ONS/ONCC chemo/bio certification preferred
-
OCN certification preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
-
IV start and IV therapy/infusion skills required
-
Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
-
Central line and PICC line care experience preferred
-
Cerner charting experience preferred
-
Prior charge nurse experience preferred
-
Oncology experience preferred but not required
-
Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required
-
Provides direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and monitoring for oncologic emergencies
-
Responsible for recognizing and managing chemotherapy side effects and cytotoxic spill disposal
-
Provides care for patients with various cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, colorectal, and other cancer types
-
Delivers patient and family education and psychosocial support
-
Scrubs are not provided; burgundy and/or white attire required
-
Facility has strict attendance expectations, tolerating only 2-3 call-offs per contract

Orientation is held every other Monday
-
Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate, with case-by-case consideration for those between 75-100 miles
-
Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before returning as a traveler

Current employees of the associated health system (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
