Position Overview
The Longmont Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Longmont Human Services Department, is seeking a motivated and community-minded contractor to launch and manage a new Nonprofit Business Discount Program. This six-month contract position is designed to strengthen the sustainability of local nonprofit organizations by connecting them with businesses willing to offer discounts on products and services.
This is a new initiative and offers an exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up in partnership with both the Chamber and the City.
Position Details
Type - Independent Contractor
Term - July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2026
Compensation - $25,000 total contract compensation ($4,167/month), funded through a City of Longmont grant.
Reports To - Scott Cook, CEO, Longmont Chamber of Commerce
Key Responsibilities
Business Recruitment
- Identify and recruit local businesses willing to provide discounts or special offers to nonprofit organizations
- Conduct outreach, presentations, and one-on-one meetings with prospective business participants
- Develop and maintain a vetted, up-to-date business discount list
Contract Preparation
- Prepare short-form participation agreements for businesses outlining the terms of their discount commitments
- Manage execution and filing of business participation contracts
Nonprofit Outreach and Promotion
- Promote the program to local nonprofit organizations to drive awareness and utilization
- Serve as the primary point of contact for nonprofits accessing the discount program
- Develop promotional materials in coordination with Chamber staff
Website and List Maintenance
- Collaborate with Chamber staff to maintain an accurate, current business discount list on the Chamber website
- Submit timely updates as businesses join, modify, or exit the program
Reporting
- Provide monthly progress reports for review by the Longmont Chamber of Commerce and the City of Longmont Human Services Department, using a reporting template developed jointly with both parties
- Track and report key metrics including businesses recruited, nonprofits served, and program utilization
- Submit formal mid-year and final reports per City of Longmont grant requirements
- Participate in regular check-ins with Chamber staff and City of Longmont Human Services Department as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in business development, sales, community outreach, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business and nonprofit communities
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, track data, and meet deadlines independently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Airtable preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred
- Familiarity with the Longmont business and/or nonprofit community
- Experience working with chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, or local government
- Previous experience preparing simple contracts or agreements
- Experience with website content updates or CMS platforms
Working Conditions
This is a contract (1099) position. The contractor will work primarily remotely and set their own schedule to meet program deliverables. Occasional in-person visits to businesses and nonprofits in the Longmont area will be required as part of recruitment and outreach efforts. Regular in-office presence at the Chamber is not required.
