We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to support our preconstruction and estimating department. This position is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in commercial HVAC estimating and project management.
Position Overview
The Assistant Estimator works closely with Estimators, Project Managers, vendors, and subcontractors to prepare accurate and competitive HVAC estimates. Responsibilities include quantity takeoffs, vendor quote solicitation, bid document management, and estimate preparation support.
This role provides a clear growth path into a Commercial HVAC Estimator position.
Responsibilities:
Estimating Support
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Measure and quantify ductwork, piping, HVAC equipment, controls, and accessories.
- Enter takeoff quantities into estimating software.
- Assist with labor and material cost calculations.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination
- Solicit pricing from equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
- Track vendor quotes and follow up prior to bid deadlines.
- Organize and compare supplier pricing.
Bid Preparation
- Review project plans, specifications, and addenda.
- Maintain bid calendars and project bid files.
- Assist with preparing bid summaries and proposal packages.
- Help identify scope gaps and potential project risks.
Administrative Support
- Maintain organized electronic project records.
- Update estimating databases and pricing information.
- Support preconstruction and bid review meetings.
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills: ability to learn and grow in multiple software plateforms.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
- Self-motivated with a desire to learn commercial construction estimating.
Preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction, HVAC, sheet metal, piping, or estimating.
- Experience with Bluebeam, AutoBid, FastEST, QuoteSoft, or similar software.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems including:
- Rooftop Units (RTUs)
- Fan Coil Systems
- Heat Pumps
- VRF Systems
- Hydronic Piping Systems
- Ductwork Systems

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
