Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Part-Time Barista the team at our hybrid café and metaphysical shop! In this role, you will craft high-quality beverages, deliver exceptional customer service, and ensure a welcoming environment for all guests. Your expertise in coffee preparation, beverage service, and retail transactions will help create memorable experiences that keep customers coming back. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your barista skills in an open-minded and creative shop/espresso bar setting that is getting busier each week.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving all coffee, espresso, and non-coffee beverages, adhering to established recipes and quality standards.
- Providing friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service to all espresso bar and retail customers.
- Operating the espresso machine, grinder, and other cafe equipment.
- Operating the Square POS accurately for drink and food orders.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar, equipment, and customer areas throughout the shift.
- Restocking inventory for the coffee bar, including beans, milks, and paper goods.
- Assisting in the creation of daily specials, seasonal menu items and menu boards.
- Exhibiting professional conduct and a positive attitude in all interactions with the public and staff.
- Managing opening and closing tasks.
- Participating in periodic training sessions, meetings and feedback sessions.
Experience
- 2-6 years of barista experience with knowledge of coffee brewing techniques.
- Familiarity with POS system such as Square.
- Previous experience in food service or retail sales transactions is essential.
- Strong understanding of food handling procedures, food safety regulations, and proper cleaning protocols.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse guests, communicate with other staff well, and maintain the culture and atmosphere of the workplace and cafe.
- Able to dial in espresso, troubleshoot for flavor and correctness of recipes, and create latte art.
- Ability to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
