Overview
Seeking a behaviorally trained Personal Assistant to support a male, minor, who attends a nonpublic school and has a history of significant behavioral needs and aggression. At home and in the community, he needs structured, consistent, 1:1 support to stay safe, regulate, and build independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, calm behavioral support after school and on weekends, aligned with his behavior plan.
- Help with transitions from school to home, and follow a predictable after‑school/evening routine.
- Support community and recreation activities (e.g., outings, classes) while maintaining close supervision.
- Work on basic daily living and adaptive skills (following a schedule, simple self‑care, and household tasks) under parent/behavior team guidance.
- Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate with behavioral providers so home strategies match school/ABA approaches.
Requirements
- Experience working with children/youth with significant behavior and aggression (e.g., ABA therapist, behavioral aide, behavioral respite, or similar).
- Behavioral training (e.g., ABA/behavior management coursework or certifications) or related education/experience in developmental disabilities.
- Able to stay calm, consistent, and safety‑focused in challenging situations.
- Must meet background check and direct support requirements (regional center/agency or FMS).
- Comfortable collaborating with a behavior team and following detailed plans.
- Comfortable with supporting toileting/incontinence needs and related cleanup
About the hiring process:
You will be hired through an agency (It is not a Respite or IHSS agency). The agency is a 3rd party Financial Management Service that pays for services for individuals with disabilities.
It is not difficult to complete the hiring paperwork and is similar to being hired at any other caregiver type job (ie., filling out a W4, background check, etc..). You will need to complete a fingerprint Live Scan to be hired. There are benefits such as accrual of sick time and overtime rates.
- You will be paid for your time in completing these extra steps to be hired, once officially hired.
- You will be paid biweekly. You will have the option to be paid via direct deposit or check in the mail.
