SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:
The Lab Technician is responsible for preparing, evaluating, reporting and keeping records of cross sections as required by the manufacturing travelers or as directed by Managers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cross Section Lab Technician

Prepare cross section specimens and mounts by grinding, polishing and viewing of internal and external observable features and characteristics of printed circuit boards.

Report measurements, anomalies and acceptability of the specimens in the context of specified requirements.

Use Metallurgical Microscope and Computer workstation to generate photomicrographs and various reporting documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Prepare reports of cross sections for customer documentation as required.

Order lab analysis and submit samples as scheduled or as needed and maintain orderly files of the results.

Conduct testing and evaluate the results of printed circuit boards as required.

Use the Omega Meter to measure and report ionic contamination of the printed circuit board surfaces.

Maintain instrument as directed by the user manual.

Wear Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, protective glasses, face-shields, ear muffs/protection, etc. when required.

Inform Managers of any potential problems.

Maintain excellent attendance and be punctual.

Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Microsection preparation and analysis (Xlab-001) for in process and final.
-
Microsection lab report (IPC& Mil-Spec) (Xlab-001-01) final.

Follow the daily priority list from production control center.
QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS- EXPERIENCE:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of management

Self-motivator and a sense of ownership and urgency.

Must be able to maintain confidentiality & professionalism at all times.

High School Diploma preferred.

1-2 years experience in cross sectioning of printed circuit boards.

Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work instructions.
-
Ability to evaluate cross section for compliance to required specifications.

Good mechanical aptitude and visual acuity for prolonged sessions using microscopes

Good mathematical accuracy in the reading and reporting of cross section specimens.
-
Good computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new skills and tasks as required.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds maximum.
-
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as gloves, protective glasses, face-shields, etc. Must not be allergic to common forms of rubber and plastic use for PPE.

Ability to stand and walk throughout the day.

Ability to follow procedures and maintain quality of products at all time.

Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced and increased sound environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 20 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend, stand, or climb on step ladders as necessary.

California Salary Range : $21- $26 per hour and Benefit Perks
