Primary Responsibilities

Identify and assess students’ individual learning needs, strengths, and areas requiring specialized support through observation, data analysis, and formal assessments.

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with students’ goals, accommodations, and modifications
-
Differentiate and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse cognitive, emotional, and physical learning needs across multiple ability levels.

Create and maintain a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that fosters independence, confidence, and academic growth.

Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure appropriate instructional strategies and accommodation are applied consistently.

Utilize a variety of data collection tools and progress monitoring systems to track student achievement toward IEP goals and adjust instruction accordingly

Maintain consistent communication with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary team members regarding student progress, behavior, and support strategies

Serve as an advocate and role model for students with exceptionalities, promoting inclusion, self-advocacy, and positive social interactions

Coordinate and guide the work of paraprofessionals and support staff to ensure effective implementation of individualized supports.

Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and ongoing collaboration to ensure compliance with federal, state, and school policies

Engage in professional development to remain current on best practices in special education, instructional strategies, and behavioral interventions

Provide targeted academic and behavioral interventions, accommodations, and modifications to help students access the general education curriculum successfully.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including grades and attendance

Adhere to Arizona sanitation and safety regulations, ensuring a secure environment for students

Providing resource services to a small case load of Special Education Students in Grades 9-12

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education (preferred) or a minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience

Early Childhood Education Certification (required)

Familiarity with project-based learning or other innovative instructional strategies
