Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions and supporting the organization's financial operations. This position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, prepares financial reports, oversees month-end and year-end close activities, and supports budgeting, tax compliance, and consolidated financial reporting. The Senior Accountant works independently and serves as a key resource to management on financial matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and supporting schedules.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
- Prepare and file sales tax, use tax, and other required tax reports, and coordinate with external tax advisors on income tax matters.
- Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, monitor project costs, and reconcile WIP balances.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, perform variance analysis, and provide recommendations to management.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, improve operational efficiency, and support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
Support special projects and perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience with consolidated financial statements and intercompany accounting.
- Experience preparing tax reports and supporting tax compliance.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience preparing and analyzing Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Fluency in both English and Japanese (written and verbal) is required.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Pay: $77,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
