Duties
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety during acute episodes.
- Develop and document detailed medical records and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management, treatment planning, and patient care strategies tailored to diverse populations including children, adolescents, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism, and those experiencing PTSD or grief.
- Utilize telehealth experience to deliver remote therapy sessions effectively while maintaining high standards of patient engagement and confidentiality.
- Engage in clinical research activities or data collection efforts aimed at improving behavioral health interventions and outcomes.
Skills
- Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and addiction counseling.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate diagnosis documentation.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with disabilities—including autism—and special education settings.
- Ability to perform intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations efficiently while demonstrating excellent patient care skills.
- Skilled in crisis management, crisis intervention, behavior management, and social work principles within diverse clinical environments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to mental health conditions and behavioral health treatments.
- Competence in managing medical records securely under HIPAA guidelines; experience with CPT coding for billing purposes is a plus.
- Effective communication skills for conducting individual and group counseling sessions across outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology basics relevant to mental health counseling; experience with inpatient hospital settings is advantageous.
