Business Development Manager
Build the Pipeline. Own the Market. Drive the Growth.
Local Handyman is a fast-growing home services brand modernizing the handyman experience through professionalism, communication, and care. We’re locally owned and launching in Montgomery — a market where no national handyman brand operates and the opportunity is wide open.
Now we’re looking for a high-energy Business Development Manager to help us build the market from day one.
This is not an order-taking sales job. This is a ground-floor growth role. You will create relationships, generate demand, and turn community visibility into booked jobs.
The Role
Build the Pipeline
- Prospect and meet regularly with property managers, realtors, home inspectors, HOAs, and local businesses across the River Region
- Create and execute a strategic plan to generate steady held estimates and booked jobs
- Turn cold introductions into warm partnerships
Represent the Brand
- Attend networking groups (BNI, realtor associations, Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce events)
- Present our services confidently to small groups
- Be the face of Local Handyman in the Montgomery community
Own the Sales Process
- Field inbound calls when needed
- Schedule simple jobs from our price book or coordinate handoff to estimators
- Follow up consistently until decisions are made
Track What Matters
- Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene (lead source tracking, follow-ups, reporting)
- Analyze results and double down on what works
What Success Looks Like
- You’ve built a repeatable referral pipeline
- Estimates are coming in from relationships you created
- Realtors and property managers across the River Region know your name
- We can directly tie revenue growth to your activity
What You Bring
- 3+ years in business development or sales with a track record of closing
- A high personal pace and strong internal drive
- Confidence in face-to-face meetings and small group presentations
- Comfort operating independently with minimal supervision
- Strong follow-up and follow-through discipline
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Bonus: Existing Montgomery-area relationships in real estate, property management, or home services.
Who Thrives in This Role
You’ll excel if you:
- Love meeting new people and creating opportunity
- Stay motivated even when results take time
- Take ownership of outcomes (not just activity)
- Are competitive, resourceful, and action-oriented
- Want autonomy and the ability to shape your own success
You will struggle here if you:
- Need heavy structure or daily direction
- Avoid rejection
- Prefer inside sales or purely administrative work
Compensation & Perks
- $55,000–$90,000 total on-target earnings (competitive base salary + uncapped performance-based commission)
- W2 employment
- Health benefits
- Paid time off
- Company-provided tech
- Ground-floor role in a brand-new territory — high-growth environment with real upward mobility
