Managing Director – After School & Summer Camp Programs
Job Type: Full-Time, Salaried (Year-Round)
Salary: $35,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and performance
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 40 hours per week. During peak seasons (especially summer), this position may require 40–55 hours per week. Work hours may fall between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

This is a leadership position for someone who enjoys both administration and hands-on involvement. One moment you may be interviewing staff, reviewing payroll, or creating schedules, and the next you may be stepping into a classroom, leading an activity, coaching teachers, or driving a van to a field trip.
Position Summary
The Managing Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our year-round after-school and summer camp programs. This position oversees staffing, enrollment, customer service, financial administration, training, safety, facilities, and overall program quality.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, energetic, solution-oriented, and capable of leading by example.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of multiple educational programs
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate staff
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain exceptional employees
- Develop a positive, professional, and team-focused culture
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and licensing requirements
- Solve operational challenges quickly and professionally
Staff Training & Development
- Train teachers and assistants on classroom management, behavior guidance, safety procedures, lesson implementation, and customer service
- Conduct observations and provide coaching and feedback
- Develop training materials and lead staff meetings
- Ensure consistency across all classrooms and locations
Administrative Responsibilities
- Payroll preparation and review
- Bookkeeping and financial record keeping
- Budget management and expense tracking
- Scheduling employees and managing staffing coverage
- Human resources documentation and compliance
- Inventory management and purchasing supplies
- Maintain organized records and documentation
- Assist with reporting and operational planning
Family & Customer Relations
- Build positive relationships with parents
- Handle questions, concerns, and conflict professionally
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
- Support enrollment and retention efforts
- Conduct tours and communicate with prospective families
Program Management
- Oversee curriculum implementation
- Ensure classrooms are engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate
- Assist with lesson planning and activity development
- Step into classrooms when needed
- Maintain high standards for educational programming
Transportation & Field Trips
- Drive company passenger vans safely
- Train staff on transportation procedures
- Coordinate field trips and transportation logistics
- Monitor vehicle cleanliness, inspections, maintenance, and safety documentation
Facility Management
- Maintain clean, safe, organized facilities
- Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance
- Order classroom and office supplies
- Ensure safety procedures are followed throughout the building
Marketing & Enrollment
- Assist with enrollment growth initiatives
- Help manage social media content and community engagement
- Support marketing campaigns and special events
- Build relationships with local schools and community organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Education, Business, Management, Human Resources, Child Development, or related field)
- Management or leadership experience required
- Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, camp, or youth setting
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience with payroll, scheduling, bookkeeping, or office administration preferred
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, dependable, and positive attitude
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass background checks and other employment screenings
