Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging curriculum plans tailored to the developmental stages of toddlers and preschoolers, incorporating literacy education, math, physical activity, and creative play.
- Provide attentive toddler care and early childhood instruction that promotes healthy development across cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language domains.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement strategies and consistent classroom management techniques.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress, milestones, and any concerns to foster strong partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws by accurately documenting incidents or concerns related to child welfare or safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration while adhering to health and safety standards including first aid and CPR certifications.
- Collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning, classroom activities, and assessments aligned with early intervention strategies and standardized testing when applicable.
Skills
- Extensive experience working with children in early childhood settings, including preschool or daycare environments.
- Strong knowledge of child development principles, childhood education best practices, and curriculum development methodologies such as Montessori or other educational philosophies.
- Proficiency in classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and active engagement among young learners.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and community partners to support child welfare and educational goals.
- Familiarity with special education needs and early intervention programs to support diverse learning requirements.
- Experience teaching physical education activities that promote motor skills development in young children.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, mandated reporting laws, health protocols including first aid/CPR certification, and safety procedures.
