Duties
- Install and maintain fiber optic cables in outdoor environments, adhering to safety standards such as the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
- Operate heavy equipment including bucket trucks, trenchers, and power tools to facilitate cable installation and maintenance
- Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify network performance and troubleshoot issues effectively
- Perform telecommunications cable splicing, ensuring precise connections for optimal signal transmission
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to accurately execute installations and repairs
- Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable pulling, grounding, and securing cables in various terrains
- Support the installation of telecommunication systems such as LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony, and other IT infrastructure components
Experience
- Proven field service experience with outdoor work environments involving telecommunications or fiber optic systems
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment like bucket trucks and power tools safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques, testing procedures, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks
- Knowledge of low voltage wiring standards and telecommunication cabling practices
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and network diagrams accurately
- Strong computer networking skills including LAN/WAN configuration and basic IT infrastructure support
- Climbing experience with safety awareness aligned with industry standards such as NESC regulations
