Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and outings.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility to encourage participation and independence.
- Foster a supportive environment by providing companionship and encouraging social interaction among residents.
- Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess individual needs related to aging issues, dementia or Alzheimer’s care, and develop personalized activity plans.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution while accommodating residents’ preferences and health considerations.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to inform ongoing care plans.
- Support family members by providing updates on residents’ engagement in activities and promoting community involvement.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Knowledge of memory care techniques, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, and senior care best practices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining dignity and respect for individual needs.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout each day.
