Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Construction Layout Technician to perform field layout for commercial plumbing and mechanical projects. This role involves using a Trimble Total Station to accurately locate and mark points for underground plumbing, mechanical systems, sleeves, equipment pads, hangers, inserts, and other MEP installations.
Previous experience with Trimble Total Stations is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Perform construction layout for plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Set and mark installation points using a Trimble Total Station.
- Transfer dimensions and elevations from construction drawings to the field.
- Read and interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and coordination drawings.
- Verify layout accuracy before installation begins.
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and field crews.
- Maintain layout equipment and ensure proper operation.
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Dependable and self-motivated.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience with Trimble Total Stations or other layout equipment.
- Construction experience, especially plumbing, piping, HVAC, or mechanical trades.
- Knowledge of commercial construction practices.
- Experience with BIM or coordinated drawings.
