Skills & What We’re Looking For
- Dependable and reliable — someone who shows up on time, comes to work consistently, and can be counted on by the rest of the team.
- Looking for a long-term career, not just a temporary job. We want someone interested in learning the locksmith trade and growing with our company.
- Positive, team-oriented personality. Our employees work closely together every day, so being able to communicate, help others, and get along with different personalities is extremely important.
- Self-motivated and willing to stay busy. We are looking for someone who notices what needs done without always having to be told.
- Great with customers — friendly, professional, patient, and comfortable communicating face-to-face and over the phone.
- Willing and excited to learn. Locksmith experience is helpful, but the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn are more important to us.
- Good problem-solving and common-sense skills. Locksmithing often requires figuring things out rather than following the exact same process every time.
- Comfortable working with keys, locks, automotive keys/remotes, safes, door hardware, key machines, hand tools, and small mechanical parts.
- Able to work accurately and pay attention to small details, part numbers, key types, customer information, and paperwork.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and basic software for customer records, inventory, invoicing, and researching products.
- Able to multitask in a busy shop environment while keeping your work area organized.
- Must be willing to help wherever needed. We operate as a team, and no task is “someone else’s job.”
- Must have a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Must be able to commute between our Springfield and Troy locations when needed.
- Must be willing and able to travel to our Troy location 1–2 days per week when needed to assist and support that shop.
- This position is primarily based at our Springfield location, but flexibility between locations is required.
- 90-Day Training Period: All new hires will complete a 90-day training period to learn our procedures, equipment, key systems, customer service expectations, and day-to-day shop operations.
- We are looking for someone who is receptive to training and feedback and understands that becoming proficient in the locksmith trade takes time, repetition, and a willingness to learn.
- Our goal is to find someone long-term who, after training, can confidently handle responsibilities independently while continuing to grow within the company.
Most importantly, we are looking for the right person to become a long-term part of our team. We can teach locksmithing skills, but we cannot teach reliability, work ethic, honesty, initiative, or a good attitude. We want someone who takes pride in their work, wants to continue learning, and is looking for a place they can grow with for years to come.
