Position Summary:
The Circulator ensures patient safety, surgical efficiency, and compliance throughout the perioperative process while supporting our surgeons and anesthesia providers in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Circulating RN will be responsible for positioning the patient, prepping the patient, and circulating the case.
- Prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies before each procedure.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and procedure following Universal Protocol.
- Provide continuous nursing assessment and advocacy throughout surgery.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure aseptic compliance.
- Document intraoperative details, including counts, implants, medications, and specimens.
- Coordinate communication between surgical, anesthesia, and recovery teams.
- Manage and label medications per policy and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives.
- Support onboarding and training of new OR staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current Tennessee RN license (required)
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required or obtained within 90 days)
- PALS certification (preferred)
- 1+ year of operating room experience preferred (plastic surgery experience a plus)
- Completion of AORN Periop 101
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday 8hr shifts (no weekends or holidays)
- As need on Fridays
- PRN opportunities available
