Production Capacity Planner
What does a successful Production Capacity Planner do at 1st Choice?
You will develop and maintain forecasting and capacity planning models that support print production readiness, staffing, equipment planning, and client commitments. You will collaborate with partners across Operations to analyze volume trends, evaluate capacity impacts, and improve planning accuracy. Your work helps Output Services make informed operational decisions and meet service commitments.
What will you do:
- Develop rolling production forecasts using historical volume data, product mix trends, and business inputs from Finance, Customer Service, client forecasts, and Operations.
- Evaluate forecast accuracy, identify sources of variance, and refine forecasting methodologies to improve model performance over time.
- Design and maintain capacity planning models that support facility, equipment, staffing, schedule, business continuity planning, and materials planning decisions.
- Analyze operational data using SQL, Python, Snowflake, and Power BI to generate reporting, control charts, scenario models, and planning insights.
- Perform what-if analyses to assess the operational impact of changes in schedules, staffing levels, machine capacity, run rates, product mix, and client volumes
- Advise business leaders on schedule adjustments, overtime needs, downtime planning, alternate production processes, and workload balancing across facilities.
- Support business case development for equipment investments and new client opportunities by translating volume forecasts and capacity needs into financial and operational inputs.

Experience you will need to have:
- 4+ years of experience in data analysis, forecasting, capacity planning, production planning, or operations analytics
- 4+ years of experience using SQL to query, validate, and analyze operational or production data.
- 4+ years of experience building analytical models, dashboards, or reports using Python, Snowflake, Power BI, or similar data and visualization tools.
- 4+ years of experience identifying trends, measuring variance, and translating data into operational recommendations for business partners or leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience, and/or military experience
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience supporting forecasting, scheduling, or capacity planning in a production, print, mail, or operations environment.
- Experience building scenario models or what-if analyses to support staffing, equipment, or facility decisions
- Experience contributing to business cases for capital investments or operational changes.
- Experience presenting analytical findings to senior leaders.
