Night Shift Differential: Additional 10% pay differential for qualifying night-shift hours
We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The Structural Fitter is responsible for fitting, cutting, aligning, and tack welding structural materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
The ideal candidate will have strong blueprint-reading skills, experience working with structural shapes and sizes, basic welding knowledge, and the ability to safely use torches, measuring instruments, and hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
Prepare welding joints and materials for fabrication.
Cut structural materials to required dimensions.
Fit, align, and tack materials according to drawings and specifications.
Verify dimensions and alignment using conventional measuring instruments.
Complete inspection reports, inspection requests, and other required documentation.
Perform finish grinding using manual and power tools.
Safely operate torches and equipment used for cutting and beveling materials.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety procedures and required PPE guidelines.
Communicate effectively with welders, supervisors, inspectors, and other team members.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Basic welding knowledge and experience.
Strong basic math skills.
Knowledge of structural shapes, sizes, and materials.
Ability to safely work with a torch.
Experience with beveling and/or bevel machining.
Ability to use conventional measuring and layout instruments.
Ability to safely operate manual and power tools.
Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate measurements.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
This position is performed in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing shop environment and may involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
The Structural Fitter must be able to:
Stand and/or walk for extended periods throughout the workday, up to 10 hours per day with a lunch break, and up to 6 days per week as required.
Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach forward and overhead, and maintain balance.
Occasionally sit, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Frequently bend at the waist and perform twisting movements.
Frequently lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting from floor to shoulder height and waist to shoulder height.
Occasionally carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds over short distances of up to approximately 30 feet.
Frequently use hands for handling, grasping, and coordination tasks.
Demonstrate normal vision and hand-eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors.
Safely perform work requiring adequate hearing; earplugs are recommended in the manufacturing environment.
Frequently climb ladders and occasionally climb stairs or steps.
All employees are required to follow company safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required PPE includes:
$25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Night shift employees receive an additional 10% pay differential for qualifying night-shift hours.
Pay will be determined based on relevant structural fitting experience, technical skills, and qualifications.
