Position Overview:
Join a tight-knit crew at JFK! We are a leading third-party commercial aviation Line Maintenance organization seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team in a dual-capacity role as Warehouse storekeeper and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) specialist. You will work alongside a dedicated team of logistics and maintenance professionals. You will split your time between managing critical aircraft parts inventory and ensuring ground support vehicles, tools and equipment are staged, inspected and ready for use by our aircraft line maintenance teams. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to launch and advance a career in commercial aviation logistics and maintenance.
Responsibilities – key duties this position performs:
· Warehouse and Inventory Management:
o Receive, unbox, inspect, log and safely store incoming inventory of aircraft spare parts, consumable materials and tools for both customer and company furnished items;
o Issue outgoing parts and tools to line maintenance technicians swiftly and accurately to ensure on-time flight departures;
o Monitor shelf life of material and equipment and keep stock current;
o Segregate and quarantine unserviceable items for repairs and/or replacement replenishment.
· GSE Fleet Support:
o Conduct daily pre-operational inspections (fluids, tires, electrical, safety checks, etc.) and perform basic entry-level preventative maintenance (greasing, fluid/filter changes, cleaning, etc.) on our fleet of ground support vehicles and aircraft servicing equipment.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Maintain a clean, well-organized, FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and hazard-free warehouse and ramp environment in strict accordance with airport (JFK) authorities and aviation (FAA), occupational (OSHA) and company (Quality and Safety) regulations;
o Ensure readiness for compliance audits conducted by regulators, airline customers and the company.
· Data Entry:
o Perform inventory management to track stock levels, tool calibrations, and equipment service logs;
o Prepare accurate written reports on inventory status, maintenance activity, stock variances, damages, and operational matters.
o Keep team lead and management informed of trendings, needs and process improvements.
· Logistics Support:
o Safely operate forklifts and light machinery to move heavy and bulky parts and equipment from shipping/receiving areas to stage storage racks, to maintenance transport vehicles, carts and tailers for transition to tarmac and aircraft servicing.
· Team Collaboration
o Coordinate close within your team and with the line maintenance operations scheduler to balance warehouse duties with active ramp support during peak airline arrival and departure windows; perform other duties as assigned by department manager.
Qualifications – What we are Looking For:
· Education/Experience:
o High school diploma or General Education Development (GED)equivalent; previous experience in a warehouse, automotive shop, or airport ramp environment is highly valued, but we will train the right candidate.
· Skills:
o Technology – basic computer and mobile device literacy, strong attention to detail, ability to work in dynamic environment and as a team-player, and a “safety-first” mindset.
o Communication – good command of English, conversationally and technically to effectively read, write and communicate one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, teammates and managers.
o Critical Thinking –common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions with minimal oversight and speak up and seek help when unsure.
o Team Player – work effectively with other team members and management.
· Physical Stamina:
o The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of this job.
o It requires the individual to regularly stand, walk, talk, sit, use hand and fingers to perform keyboard like functions. Normal or corrected vision and hearing is required. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to grab, grip or hold, reach overhead, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally lift or move up to 50lbs; and work in both indoor and outdoor varying environmental conditions.
· Environmental Adaptability:
o While performing the duties of this job it will occasionally require activities near potential hazards, electricity, pressurized air, hydraulic systems, power tools, solvents, lubricants, and other combustible substances.
· Schedule Flexibility:
o Ability to work varied shifts if needed, in order to balance and cover a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends and holidays to support a wide fleet of global customers.
· License:
o Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required to operate GSE and forklifts).
