Community Engagement Director

About This Role
We support justice-involved individuals in reentry. You will own relationships with government agencies, nonprofit partners, and our growing volunteer base. This is a contract position starting at 25 hours per week with a clear path to full-time (40 hours) as we grow.
What You will Do
Manage relationships with state agencies, government offices, and community partners. Attend meetings, coordinate collaborations, represent the organization in partnership conversations.
Build volunteer infrastructure. Recruit and onboard volunteers. Manage documentation, background checks, certifications. Keep volunteer operations organized and engaged.
Create program communications. Write updates, fact sheets, success stories. Deliver reporting to government agencies and funders.
Develop partnerships and referral sources. Attend community events. Build pipelines that connect people to programs.
Support program operations. Coordinate volunteer logistics, manage intake, flag operational needs.
What We're Looking For
2-3 years nonprofit or reentry sector experience. You build relationships and actually enjoy stakeholder management. You work independently and think systemically. Sacramento or Oakland-based . Comfortable entering carceral facilities regularly.
Bonus:
Government agency or criminal justice system experience. Spanish fluency. Volunteer program management background. Mindfulness practice or Buddhist experience. Prior work in carceral settings or reentry programs inside facilities.
Expansion Path
Expansion to full-time (40 hours/week) available at 6-month review contingent on program growth
Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
