The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all logistics, transportation, shipping, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and customer delivery activities to ensure on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. This position supports production requirements while maintaining compliance with customer expectations, quality standards, safety requirements, and company objectives.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to support customer delivery requirements and plant production schedules.
- Manage inbound and outbound transportation activities, including domestic and international shipments.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, customers, and internal departments to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
- Monitor freight costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives related to transportation, packaging, and logistics operations.
- Establish and maintain carrier relationships and evaluate transportation performance.
- Direct all shipping, receiving, warehouse, and material handling activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and finished goods.
- Oversee inventory transactions and maintain compliance with inventory control procedures.
- Develop and maintain warehouse organization systems that support efficiency and inventory accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with FIFO requirements and customer-specific inventory management standards.
- Monitor inventory levels to support production demands while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Implement inventory control systems and cycle count programs to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Analyze inventory trends and develop corrective actions when discrepancies occur.
- Measure and report key inventory performance indicators.
- Collaborate with Production Control, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Customer Service teams to support production schedules.
- Ensure materials are available to meet customer demand and production requirements.
- Assist in resolving supply chain disruptions and material shortages.
- Coordinate expedited shipments when necessary to prevent customer shortages.
- Support customer delivery performance objectives and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with customer shipping requirements, EDI/ASN processes, and documentation standards.
- Investigate shipping discrepancies and customer complaints related to deliveries.
- Participate in customer audits and supplier performance reviews as required.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for logistics, warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory personnel.
- Establish departmental goals and performance metrics.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost reduction.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S activities.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, company policies, and customer-specific requirements.
- Maintain safe working conditions within warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations.
- Conduct safety training and corrective actions as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of logistics, supply chain, warehouse, or production control experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience working with OEM and Tier 1 automotive customers preferred.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, inventory control, and supply chain management.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Plex experience preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of automotive customer requirements and shipping processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
