Overview
DARTNet Institute is building a strategic communications program to increase our visibility, strengthen funding opportunities, and support our growing research, fundraising, and innovation initiatives.
We're seeking a Communications Manager who can independently manage day-to-day communications, from content creation and social media to digital campaigns and vendor coordination, while translating complex research into engaging stories for broad audiences.
Content & Communications
- Create and edit newsletters, website content, blogs, social media, one-pagers, reports, and marketing materials.
- Translate research findings into clear, engaging content for funders, partners, participants, and the public.
- Draft leadership communications including talking points, press releases, and stakeholder messaging.
Digital Marketing
- Manage social media channels, content calendar, scheduling, and performance reporting.
- Update website content and support SEO improvements.
- Execute digital recruitment campaigns for research studies.
Communications Operations
- Manage the content calendar, CRM, email platform, and engagement reporting.
- Coordinate annual report production and internal communications.
- Support communication needs across research projects and organizational initiatives.
Vendor & Design
- Manage graphic designers, videographers, and other communications vendors.
- Create graphics and presentations using Canva or similar tools.
- Maintain brand consistency across all materials.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, public health, or related fields.
- 3–7 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in health, research, nonprofit, or academic settings.
- Strong writing and editing skills across formats and audiences - from social posts to funder reports.
- A creative sensibility with the ability to look at research results, a data point, or an organizational milestone and see the compelling story, the visual, or the unexpected angle that makes people pay attention.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media channels and interpreting and reporting analytics (open rates, web traffic, engagement, reach, conversions).
- Working proficiency with design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, or Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience managing content calendars, email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), and contact relationship management (CRM) or contact databases.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with minimal day-to-day direction.
- Comfort working with outside vendors including briefing, coordinating, and holding them to scope and quality.
- Comfort working and coordinating with interdisciplinary, interprofessional internal and external teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a practice-based research network (PBRN), academic medical center, FQHC, or federally funded or other types of research environment.
- Familiarity with IRB-compliant communications and research participant-facing materials.
- Experience with digital advertising (Meta Business Suite, Google Ads) for study recruitment or program promotion.
- Basic understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) principles and web content management (WordPress or comparable).
- Experience producing annual reports, conference materials, integrated marketing plans, and donor-facing communications.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
