HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC – DIABLO RANGE DISTRICT / ALTAMONT SECTOR / CARNEGIE STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The working schedule is Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
The reporting location for this position is Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area,18600 Corral Hollow Rd., Tracy, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Park Maintenance Chief I. The incumbent may be assigned to work at other park units within the Diablo Range District.
The California Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our small but mighty team in the Altamont Sector. This unique position supports a diverse fleet serving Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area, Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area, the Alameda Tesla Property, and the Diablo Range District Office. This is not a position where you'll spend every day doing the same task. We need someone who can think on their feet, adapt to changing priorities, and take initiative to solve problems across a wide range of fleet maintenance, equipment management, and operational needs.

This position offers significant independence and responsibility for maintaining a diverse fleet that supports recreation, public safety, resource management, and park operations.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Employees who work to support State Vehicle Recreation Areas (SVRA) utilize the OHV Trust Fund and are responsible for appropriate use of the fund and to help ensure program transparency, accountability, and compliance (TAC) goals are met.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
