Position Summary
The Manual Mill & Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual milling machines and engine lathes to fabricate, repair, and modify precision metal parts and components according to specifications, blueprints, and work orders. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision measurement skills, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, and related machine shop equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and work orders to determine specifications and machining requirements.
- Measure, mark, and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, indicators, and scales.
- Machine, fabricate, modify, repair, and finish metal parts to precise tolerances and specifications.
- Select proper tooling, cutting speeds, and machine settings based on material type and project requirements.
- Perform threading, drilling, boring, facing, turning, and milling operations.
- Inspect finished products to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in proper working condition and report maintenance concerns as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and machine guarding.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to meet production deadlines and quality expectations.
- Assist with shop projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
