Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterilization Technician/Assistant to join our dental healthcare team. This vital role ensures the highest standards of infection control and sterilization procedures are maintained across all clinical areas. The successful candidate will support dental practitioners by preparing and sterilizing dental instruments, managing clinical cleanliness, and assisting with patient care activities. Responsibilities
- Properly clean, sterilize, and organize dental instruments using established sterilization protocols and dental sterilization procedures.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention management policies, including aseptic technique and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Assist with the preparation of clinical areas, including maintaining sterile fields and managing dental equipment to uphold safety standards.
- Support the dental team by handling medical documentation, updating patient records in EMR systems and managing patient management software.
- Monitor and record vital signs, medical imaging results, and other relevant patient data in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with chairside procedures by passing instruments, maintaining a clean work environment, and supporting four-handed dentistry practices.
- Maintain stock levels of dental supplies, including dental x-ray films, oral surgery tools, prosthodontics materials, and other essential items.
- Adhere to all healthcare infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe clinical setting for patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment operation, and infection control practices is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems ; experience with patient management software is advantageous.
- Understanding of medical documentation procedures, medical records management, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to follow strict aseptic techniques and adhere to clinical confidentiality policies at all times.
