Job purpose:
Mentors are the backbone of the intervention programming at TRAILS Ministries. A mentor may support mentee(s) in one or more of the programs that are available through both the Youth and Adult division. TRAILS seeks to support its mentors in being the best advocates, supports and empowering agents they can be.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Develops a personal and positive rapport with mentee and/or mentee’s family
- Initiates consistent meetings with the mentee and ensure the meeting times are enjoyable, comfortable and mentee focused.
- Work with mentee(s) to establish individual SMART goals and revisit frequently to assess and adjust as needed.
- Assists mentee in finding community support and healthy lifestyle choices to generate a successful life trajectory and independence.
- Prepares for the mentoring sessions by ready relevant literature, doing research and background work, and attending relevant trainings
- Documents and submits necessary paperwork and notes on all mentor/mentee interactions in TRAILS reporting database.
- Complete required minimal contacts with mentee as set by supervision.
- Be willing to participate, attend and/or lead group activities that may be during non-traditional work hours and days (these activities may include but are not limited to Saturdays and Sundays)
Qualifications:
- Degree in related field preferred
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance with the ability to be able to be added to TRAILS Driver’s list
- Mandated Clearances (PA Criminal, Child Abuse, & FBI Fingerprinting).
- Ability to be flexible, mentoring during non-traditional work hours
