Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) for a Med Surg/Telemetry position at a rural acute-care hospital in Lufkin, TX. The unit is highly supported by travelers and requires dependable, team-oriented nurses who can work independently, manage a busy patient assignment, and provide excellent care to the local community.

- Bed Count: 25 beds
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Day Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays required
- Call: None
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 5–6:1
- EMR: Paragon
- EMR Transition: Transitioning to EPIC on October 30, 2026
- Scrubs: Navy Blue
- Orientation: 2 shadow/orientation shifts
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to Med Surg/Telemetry patients.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient status.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
- Manage and titrate Heparin when required.
- Care for patients with cardiac, medical, and chronic conditions.
- Monitor patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, PCTs, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Prioritize care and manage time effectively in a 5–6 patient assignment.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 18+ months of recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience.
- Strong telemetry knowledge and ability to read cardiac rhythms.
- Experience caring for medically complex patients.
- Ability to manage and titrate Heparin.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- Rural hospital experience preferred.
Floating Requirements
- Travelers may float to all Med Surg units.
- May float to PCU to care for Telemetry patients awaiting transfer.
- Travelers must be willing to float within their scope of practice and competency..
Pay: $58.00 - $58.11 per hour
