The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works under physician direction and under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Clinical Team Manager. They are a professional who works within the limits of their license and credentials adhering to institutional and departmental policies, procedures and standards. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is required to provide quality patient care, promote a healthy work environment, and project a positive image for the UAMS Health Benton/Bryant location.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED plus two (2) years of direct respiratory care experience OR an associate’s degree.
Applicant must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by hire date.
Applicant must hold a current Arkansas Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (LRCP) by hire date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in respiratory care.
- One or more of the following: ACCS, NPS, ACLS
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Performs routine respiratory care procedures including, but not limited to: updrafts, metered dose inhalers (MDI), chest physiotherapy (CPT), arterial blood gases (ABG), incentive spirometry, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV), patient education, mechanical ventilator setup and management. Assists in codes and rapid responses.
Calls for, or physically moves, equipment and medical supplies needed into the assigned work areas.
Enters patient treatment notes in e-chart system and/or places documentation in patient charts.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning and performing routine tasks in personal protective equipment to include N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR) or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).
Physical Requirements:
Heavy Work | Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and/or visual inspection at distances close to the eyes.
The Employee is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
